If you’re doing a road trip up the East coast of Australia, you’re likely spending a few days in Byron.
It’s world-famous, incredibly popular and not cheap.
This world-renowned surf town does live up to the hype though as its stunningly beautiful and has some of the best food and drink on the East Coast.
I’m always blown away by how these popular travel destinations are so busy with tourists yet it’s still so easy to get away from it. The average traveller is not blessed with time and often crowd the hot spots and its no different here.
We stayed at Suffolk Beach which is about a 10-minute drive to the main beach in Byron and we had entire stretches of beach to ourselves.
We stayed at Sally’s place and it was one of our favourites during our trip.
It’s a self-contained 1 bedroom suite with a private entrance off the front. It felt very private yet it was attached to the main house, which looked very beautiful as well. The unit’s itself was thoughtfully designed and everything just felt solid and well-built.
The design itself was warm and felt upscale and luxurious yet still like a relaxed beach home. We loved the little garden area and BBQ and the way the front of the unit had accordion doors that opened right up. Small kitchen area but more than enough to put together a meal.
The bedroom had the comfiest bed of our trip and the ensuite was very beautiful. Our daughter loved the bunks that were built just off the landing.
The location allowed us to get away from the crowds when we wanted yet still close enough to enjoy the nightlife and scene of Byron Bay.
Sally was a great host and when we stayed in 2022 it felt like great value for what you got.
We highly recommend Sally’s place if you are in the Byron Bay area with your own wheels.
