Turkey

Turkey reflects a fusion of influences from the Middle East, Mediterranean, the Balkans, and Central Asia, surpassing its stereotypical portrayal as a mere meeting point between East and West.

Istanbul, with its stylish ambiance, hosts one of the world’s most youthful populations and is one of Xplorists favourite cities.

Along the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, beach towns beckon travellers with their allure, while remarkable archaeological sites punctuate the captivating desert landscapes. Complemented by inventive cuisine, bustling bazaars, and welcoming locals, Turkey offers an array of experiences to suit every traveller’s taste.

Let the talented creators below show you the best of Turkey.

WEATHER

One of Turkey’s greatest attributes is its beautiful Mediterranean climate — even in the winter, the temperatures hardly dip below freezing. Summer is peak season and the weather is hot and its crowded but like nearly all countries most tourists stick to the well-worn path and its still possible to get away from the pack.

SAFETY

SAFETY

That is a difficult question to answer and heavily depends on one’s risk tolerance.  If you check your home countries travel advisories then you will probably see a warning issued with a higher level of risk noted for Turkey. There have been issues near the border of Turkey and Syria. At Xpolorist we are well-healed travellers and quite often the situation on the ground is much different. Ultimately a traveller must do their own research and be smart but not scared. There are good and bad people everywhere but socio-economic pressures and changing political landscapes in countries can change things quickly. Do your own research and trust your gut.
