Best of Namibia.

Namibia

Namibia is renowned for its stunning landscapes and rich biodiversity. The Namib Desert, which runs along the country’s Atlantic coastline, is one of the world’s oldest deserts and is famous for its towering sand dunes, some of which are among the tallest in the world.

From the iconic big game animals like elephants, lions, and rhinos to the desert-adapted species such as oryx and springbok, there’s an abundance of wildlife to be discovered. Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s premier wildlife destinations, offers unparalleled opportunities for safari experiences.

Moreover, Namibia’s cultural tapestry is equally captivating. The country is home to diverse ethnic groups, each with its own traditions, languages, and ways of life.

WEATHER

The best time to visit Namibia is from July to October, when temperatures hover just above 20°C and the likelihood of rain is low. This period is also ideal for wildlife viewing, making it peak travel season — hence, planning well in advance is necessary.

During the Northern Hemisphere summer, Namibia enjoys warm and sunny days, although the nights can be quite cold. In contrast, the winter months are marked by hot days and the possibility of spectacular thunderstorms. Despite these variations, Namibia remains predominantly dry, with its iconic deep orange sand dunes standing out against cobalt skies.

SAFETY

SAFETY

That is a difficult question to answer and heavily depends on one’s risk tolerance.  If you check your home countries travel advisories then you will probably see a warning issued with a high level of risk noted for Namibia. At Xpolorist we are well-healed travellers and quite often the situation on the ground is much different. Ultimately a traveller must do their own research and be smart but not scared. There are good and bad people everywhere but socio-economic pressures and changing political landscapes in countries can change things quickly.
