PEACOCK STREET, AUCKLAND

Auckland New Zealand is a beautiful city and there is no shortage of great accommodations from hostels to private homes. When we were searching for places to stay in November 2023 for our group of 5, it was hard not to be discouraged by the pricing.

I had been looking for so long that when Corrine’s stunning property was listed, I knew that the value for what was being offered was amazing.

This beautiful home is only 20 mins from downtown Auckland but the neighbourhood setting made it feel like we were living in Auckland.

The property is accessed via a long private driveway which helps the anticipation build as the property comes into view. As you climb the stairs to the main level, you instantly realize how special this property is.  The large sliding glass doors open up to an expansive front deck that overhangs the hillside and provides uninterrupted views of the ocean and Karaka Bay.

We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days and never grew tired of the view. From breakfasts in the dining room to cocktails on the deck, everything was made better by the backdrop of the ocean.

Each bedroom had beautiful views and comfortable beds and the kitchen had everything you needed to feel right at home.

While we highly recommend having a car to stay in this area of Auckland, there was still tons of interesting places to walk to nearby.

Karaka Bay was a beautiful walk down the hill and this quiet bay was peaceful and not crowded. It was too cold to swim when we were there but it would be wonderful in the summer. One of the highlights for us was Churchill Park which was located just a few minutes walk away. This natural park had km’s of walking/running trails and beautiful views. Tons of birdlife and the sunrises were gorgeous. There are a few stores around the area.

Staying at Corrine’s place was a wonderful place to start our New Zealand adventure and the home was incredibly comfortable which is important after nearly 24 hrs of travel from the West Coast of North America.

While this is certainly on the higher end and considered a luxury stay, we really believe there was incredible value when compared to the style of home. It’s not every day you get to stay in a private multi-million dollar waterfront property for under $500 a night. When you compare this to a decent hotel room in Auckland the value here is undeniable and the home was a great size and layout of 4 adults and a child which when split it becomes an even better deal.

A big thank you to Corrine for her communication and making sure our stay met and exceeded our expectations.

It truly is one of the best Airbnbs in Auckland.
